The Ph.D. and Masters programs in Mathematics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile were created in 1972. Our Ph.D. program is the oldest such program in the country and is defined by its academic excellence, high level of commitment on the part of its students and the diversity of the research areas of its professors. The main objective of the program is to develop independent researchers with a broad knowledge of the different areas of mathematics. The program has been accredited by the CNA for 7 years from September 2010.
Our Masters program offers a solid training in the fundamental areas of mathematics. Our students get to know the current hot topics of mathematical research and its applications.
A MECESUP project in partnership with the Faculties of Science at the University of Chile and the University of Santiago has developed closer ties between these departments creating scientific interactions between the professors of these institutions and their students. The professors who teach with the program are associated with various research groups in Chile and abroad. The Vice-Chancellor´s Office for Research and Doctorate Studies
(VRI) provides financial support through maintenance grants and other funds for postgraduate students and research purposes.
